Spirit

Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence.

Why are we in India so embarrassed to recognize our own strengths, our achievements? We are such a great nation. We have so many amazing success stories but we refuse acknowledge them---  Why?

Focus On Solution Not Problem

If we are facing a problem, it means that we are alive. Everyone wants problem less life, but problems are the essence of life as, those are the stepping stones for our improvement. When we are into a problem, we have to understand there are no problems which doesn't have a solution, only thing we have to find it.To find it, we have to focus on its solutions rather than focusing on the problem itself.

There are four types of people :

Derek Redmond

Barcelona Olympic games 1992, the 400 meters sprint line up was getting ready. The line up consisted of the British athlete Derek Redmond, who was considered a favourite to win a medal.

The race began and  Derek had a good start, 150 meters into the race, Derek felt a scaring pain. In agony, he fell to the ground with a torn hamstring, but he was not willing to give up and was determined to finish the race, Derek got up and taking up all the pain limped ahead. During this time a person from the spectators broke through the security and came to Derek's side. It was his father.

" You don't have to do this," he told his son

" Yes I do, " came the answer

" Well then, we are going to finish this together," together the father and son continued

Shortly before the finish line, Derek's father let him go to complete his race, receiving a standing ovation from a crowd of over sixty five thousand.

When you don't give up, you cannot fail

Fortune

A Tuesday morning, John woke up with a bad headache. John, a software engineer from India, is in the USA on an offshore project of his company. He usually goes to office in metro train that takes him about thirty minutes from his place to his office. This day all his morning activities are moving on the slower pace. The headache seems to have affected his enthusiasm and totally slowing him down. Breakfast also wasn't much to his liking. John was having a disgusting start to his day.

The train that he usually takes is at 8AM from the station at a ten minutes walk from his apartment. Today, but he has to hurry to get the train as only five more minutes left for the train. If this train is missed, then the next train will be after another thirty minutes that will make him late for the office. John was almost running to the station, but just to see the train pass by as he reached the entrance of the station.

John was totally annoyed with himself and was cursing his luck for the day. But the next forty five minutes showed him that he was actually lucky that day as the five minutes that caused him missing the train had actually saved his life because if he had got the train he would be in his office by 8:30AM, which is in the World Trade Center in Newyork City and would be in the list of casualties in the terrorist attack which happened on 8:45AM.

In life everything that happens to us would be for our good.

Tips For Handling Pressure

I always disliked to work under pressure. I believe when we work taking on pressure of whatever sort the work would be more of a burden. And when we work over burden we tend to dislike it. When we dislike what we do, it most often gives result towards the negative side, so what we do should not be a burden. The secret of success is not to do what you like, but to like what you do. Though our life is full of scope for pressure, it is our approach towards these situations that enable us handle them properly.

In all walks of life we can find people who remain very cool towards situations. These people can be found to be standing among the categories of winners. Mahendra Singh Dhoni our Indian cricket team captain is very famous for his cool nature at most of the pressure situations. I think his pressure handling is the major reason behind making him a successful captain. It is not easy to keep cool in desperate situations, but I must say it is in our hands. More often it is our ego that makes us succumbed to emotions leading to wrong reactions. Keep away the ego.

I would like to share a technique I have been practising. I have always believed that god is within ourselves and he lives in our hearts. So whenever I do anything from the beginning I say it is the god within me who is doing, so whatever situations arises it would be the god within me who would be reacting. I always tell me when god is with us whatever may happen to us would be for our good.

Worthy trip to the Green City

My business demanded this trip. The purpose was to know about the esteemed project - "Green City", coming up close to the 'City of 1000 Temples' Kanchipuram, the pride of TamilNadu. My trip started from Kochi and the travel is by train named Chennai Superfast Express. The train leaves Kochi around 9:45 pm and it is to reach Katpadi, the station were I had to get down. I was told that the train reaches there early morning 7.30 leaving just the nights' sleep in the train.

Thought the train started late from Kochi, reached Katpadi right in the scheduled time. On reaching Katpadi, I was told to move to Arcot, located on the eastern end of the Vellore city on the southern banks of Palar River. Arcot is 27 Kms from Katpadi and the frequent bus service both private and public transport is available to the place. Since I had already fresehened up from the train itself, I thought of heading straight to the destination without wasting time. I got a TamilNadu Transport bus right in the time I reached the bus stop. The bus took a fare of Rs. 6/- and 1 hr time to take me to the place. The travel from Katpadi to Arcot is completely through the Bangalore - Chennai National Highway from Vellore. And the route gave me good glimpse of the industrial development taking place in the area of Arcot. A lot of people in Arcot are employed with Industries in SIPCOT (RANIPET), a large Industrial Park. The place also has a big campus of BHEL.
From Arcot Bus stand I had to go to Randham, a village in the Arcot- Cheyyar State Highway (SH-5) . Moving towards Randham had some beautiful farms towards the left side of the road and the Adi Parasakthi group of Colleges towards the right side.

Green City project is located in the Nayathangal Village 3 Kms from Randham. I got the company of a local resident towards the village. He told me that Kanchipuram is being develped into a satillite city for the South Metro Chennai, this is the reason for making Green City project extremely ideal location for property investment.

The zero Phillosphy

Hello! I have the name "Shuniyam" in Sanskrit language and I think that is
the name that suites me most. Put in a circle and I am there.
School Children don't like to see me alone in the place of marks in their
progress card. Cricketers Don't like to see me in place of their runs. If I take that place they are called ducks.
People say I dont have any value, but I say all values starts from me. If I
have any of my digit brothers towards my left side then I have biggest
value.
In arithmetic I become emotionless. You add me with any number or subrtact me from any number, I don't bother I leave the result to the number itself. I consider addition " + " and subtraction "-" as children, let them do what ever they want I am the least bothered I am very kind to them.
But same is not the case with multiplication "x" and and division "/" they
are my enemies any number come to me with "x" I swallow them and you will find only me remaining.
When any number comes for division with me I become very nasty and then I am like some cows which kicks you when you go to milk them. I cannot tolerate division, No body can use division with me that is why the mathematicians has put me in exception with division.
I am the biggest socialist in the world, any number raise me onto their head then they will all be one only. So I have the power to make everything one. Now tell me can you find any bigger socialist than me.
I am very kind hearted, emotionless, biggest socialist and extremely proud. You know why all these qualities in me, because I am an Indian..

Hospital Window

I want to share a story my wife Sreeja told me last day. thought of starting this blog with it..
Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room’s only window. The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation.
Every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window. The man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside. The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance.
As the man by the window described all this in exquisite detail, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine the picturesque scene. One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by.
Although the other man couldn’t hear the band – he could see it. In his mind’s eye as the gentleman by th! e window portrayed it with descriptive words.
Days and weeks passed.
One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away. As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone.
Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside. He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed. It faced a blank wall. The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall.
She said, “Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you.”
